Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson, founder of The Southern Justice Archive and author behind the brand Wilkie Clark's Daughter.

Mrs. Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson

Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson is a life-long educator, civil-rights archivist, and community advocate who writes under the prominent personal brand, "Wilkie Clark’s Daughter".


As the co-owner and licensed funeral director of Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke, Alabama, she proudly safeguards a 57-year-old Black family business built on economic resistance and community service.

A historic pioneer in her own right, Charlotte made history at Auburn University as a Charter Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.—the first Black sorority established on campus.


Her unwavering leadership as President of the Randolph County Branch, #5053 NAACP earned her the prestigious John F. Kennedy "Profiles in Courage" Award in 1995.


Today, she serves as the founder of The Southern Justice Archive (southernjusticearchive.com), a vital digital repository and publication dedicated to documenting systemic injustice, protecting Southern civil-rights history, and "preserving what matters before it disappears."
