April, 1976:  Wilkie Clark's First Foray Into Politics
Prompted by YEARS of controversy between the local N.A.A.C.P. and the Randolph County Board of Education, Wilkie Clark decided to run for a seat on the County School Board.  This link provides a few more details revolving around this experience.

1988 - BLACKS PROTEST HOSPITAL BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Authored by Eric Eyre, the article below appeared in The Anniston Star on April 12, 1988.  It reported on a confrontation during which Black leaders in Randolph County vocalized their discontent with local leaders' refusal to appoint blacks, women, and low-income residents to vacant positions on the county's Hospital Board, and further blasted a Roanoke ambulance driver — Carl Sellers — whom they claimed treated blacks unfairly.    The article appears below.
